Christmas is just to come! Christmas is the most awaited season along with New Year for Filipinos and they are most thrilled to prepare and adorn their house early in September.
|
One of the well-liked Christmas traditions in the Philippines is the children and adults posing as part time carolers, who go from house to house singing Christmas carols. The part time carolers also some times gather funds from these houses they visit and use it for organizing some dinner for the poor and the deprived on Christmas. The carolers too are very modest and thank the people of the house by singing 'thank you, you are so kind' (ang babait ninyo).
|
One can listen to people singing Christmas songs as early as September and the celebration lasts till Epiphany, celebrated on first Sunday of the next year. Lord Jesus Christ's birth is celebrated at midnight with the Misa de Gallo (Night Mass), simultaneously with hallelujahs and Christmas songs. Kasadya ni'ng Taknaa
Dapit sa kahimayaan.
Mao ray among nakita,
Ang panagway nga masanagon.
Bulahan ug bulahan
Ang tagbalay nga giawitan.
Awit nga halandumon,
Ug sa tanang pasko magmalipayon.
Kasadya ni'ng Taknaa
Dapit sa kahimayaan.
Mao ray among nakita,
Ang panagway nga masanagon.
Bulahan ug bulahan
Ang tagbalay nga giawitan.
Awit nga halandumon,
Ug sa tanang pasko magmalipayon.
Bag-ong tuig, bag-ong kinabuhi.
Duyog sa atong mga pagbati.
Atong awiton ug atong laylayon
Aron magmalipayon.
Kasadya ni'ng Taknaa
Dapit sa kahimayaan.
Mao ray among nakita,
Ang panagway nga masanagon.
Bulahan ug bulahan
Ang tagbalay nga giawitan.
Awit nga halandumon,
Ug sa tanang pasko magmalipayon.
English version
Christmas has arrived
Let us sing
Beautiful hymns
Because God is Love
When Christ was born
There were Three Kings who visited
And each one offered
their respective gifts
It's New Year so we must change our lives
so that our people will be glad
Let us strive in order for us to achieve
prosperity
Let us sing
While the world is tranquil
The day has arrived
of the child that came from heaven
Let us love one another
And follow the golden rule
And from now on
Even though it's not Christmas let's share
